Bathoen Statue Unveiled

The statue of the great Kgosi Bathoen II was unveiled prematurely recently due to lack of funds to complete a planned project at the site. According to the curator of Kgosi Bathoen II (BKII) Museum, Mika Morima, the unveiling of the statue had to be done because it was 'high timee'. “We wanted to give the community the opportunity to see him,” he said. Morima said they had experienced difficulties obtaining money and that they still owed the creator of the statue, Masilonyana Radinoga. He however said that they were calling for sponsors to come forth through the 'Adopt a Monument' strategy, whereby companies could advertise themselves at the site and in turn take care of of the site and develop it. “We also encourage the community to help. We can complete the site and transform it into a landmark with a lot of significance. We also plan to build a shopping complex with a curio shop, library and even bedding,” Morima said and added that the project was community

Chevrolet and Isuzu Offroad team show off at Lion Park

The General Motors South Africa team and the Isuzu academy crew were in town last week Wednesday to give local sales teams and some clients fun and an opportunity to learn about their cars and brands. After listening to the guys from GMSA and watching videos outlining the histories of the Chevrolet and Isuzu, the sales people were split into two groups. The first group started with a lesson on the application of Isuzu KB 4X4 and a then traversed the Lions Park off road track while the other group drove the Chevrolet Captivas and Orlandos. The two groups later swapped places. Second largest Choppies store lands in Francistown

Botswana's second city, Francistown welcomed the second largest Choppies store in Botswana last Friday. The super store is said to contain 40% more refigeration space and that in terms of size it is the 2nd largest after Choppies Hyper along the Western-by-Pass in Gaborone. Slizer and her gyrating dancers once again dazzled the masses that had come to take advantage of the low prices now popular with the opening of a new Choppies shop. Eve's club boosts NGOs

Eve's Club recently donated goods worth just under P70 000 to nine none profit organisations assisting the underprivileged and suffering at the Gaborone Sun recently. Eve's Club, established 20 years ago, has about 20 members consisting of working women and housewives most of whom have contributed to the club since it's beginning. Pushpa Ramesh, the club's Chairlady said they had donated close to one million Pula to various NGOs and charitable organisations and expressed her gratitude to the business community for their generosity towards their fund raising events.
