High Court Decision Disrupts Election Prep: IEC Delays Registration

Following a High Court ruling granting the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) the right to monitor voter registration, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has postponed the registration period, initially set from November 1 to November 30, 2023, to run from November 13 to December 8, 2023. UDC observers will have to wait until the court's final decision on November 7 to engage. 'Crazy' suspect gets bail

A 50 year old Palapye man who was shot by the police last week in Serorome ward for allegedly firing a pellet gun at the cops has denied the accusation and claims they are building their own defense. Self employed Sakie Seanego reportedly had a dramatic fire exchange with the police on the 06 July when they had gone to arrest him for threatening to kill his lover. The police claim Seanego acted like he was crazy hurling stones and shooting a pellet gun at them, but allowed him bail before he even had a chance to ask for it. Seanego said to have threatened his girlfriend saying: “I’ll kill you and throw you in Bonwakathako dam.” He is further accused of damaging the police Landcruiser and resisting arrest. Inspector Ditsapelo Emmanuel offered Seanego bail on condition that he does not make physical contact with the complainant nor interfere with witnesses. Eve's club boosts NGOs

Eve's Club recently donated goods worth just under P70 000 to nine none profit organisations assisting the underprivileged and suffering at the Gaborone Sun recently. Eve's Club, established 20 years ago, has about 20 members consisting of working women and housewives most of whom have contributed to the club since it's beginning. Pushpa Ramesh, the club's Chairlady said they had donated close to one million Pula to various NGOs and charitable organisations and expressed her gratitude to the business community for their generosity towards their fund raising events.
